“On behalf of the Malaysian Society of Hepato-Pancreato-Biliary Surgeons (MyHPBS) Executive 2025-2027, I extend a warm welcome to our members, partners, and the wider community. We are a collective of dedicated professionals committed to advancing HPB surgery in Malaysia.
The core of our mission is built on three key pillars:
- Patient Care: At the heart of everything we do is the well-being of our patients. We are dedicated to promoting the highest standards of HPB surgical and medical care, ensuring that those affected by complex liver, pancreatic, and biliary conditions receive the best possible treatment.
- Fostering Collaboration: We believe that the best outcomes are achieved through teamwork. MyHPBS serves as a vital platform for surgeons, physicians, and allied healthcare workers to share information, experience, and expertise. By strengthening these professional networks, we can collectively tackle complex challenges and drive innovation.
- Enhancing Networking: Through our events, workshops, and forums, we provide invaluable opportunities for professional connection and growth. From junior trainees to seasoned consultants, we foster a supportive fraternity where all can share knowledge, mentor one another, and collaborate on cutting-edge research.

History
The Malaysian Society of Hepato-Pancreato-Biliary Surgeons or MyHPBS was formally established and registered in August 2019.
The unwavering dedication and exemplary commitment demonstrated by the pioneers of Hepato-Pancreato-Biliary (HPB) Surgery in Malaysia have been instrumental in elevating both the interest and advancement of HPB surgical practice nationwide.
Over recent decades, this subspecialty has witnessed significant growth in prominence, attracting a broader spectrum of practitioners and expanding its influence within the surgical community. The formation of MyHPBS marks a significant milestone in the growth and development of HPB surgery in Malaysia.
MyHPBS has played an active role in fostering the subspecialty’s development by regularly organising workshops, symposiums, and various educational initiatives. These efforts have not only promoted the field but have also inspired and guided aspiring surgeons as they embark on their professional journeys. In order to further strengthen the HPB community and support forthcoming activities in this domain.
The Society’s objectives are as follows:
- To organise educational and social programmes pertinent to the surgical discipline of Hepato-Pancreato-Biliary Surgery;
- To support and advance the development of Hepato-Pancreato-Biliary Surgery in Malaysia;
- To serve as a platform to facilitate the exchange of information and professional experiences among medical professionals
- To provide a platform for networking among experts in this field
